The Lornty story is one of family, integrity, and enduring investment.

The Lornty name has been part of the O'Connell family's real estate history for five generations. Since its incorporation in 1911, it has represented more than a century of real estate investment and finance. Today, Lornty combines that heritage with more than three decades as a private real estate lending and investment company.

Lornty Investment Company: Re-Built Across Two Generations

Today, Lornty remains family owned, but its current business is the product of decades of entrepreneurial investment, disciplined underwriting, and long-term capital management—not simply the continuation of a family enterprise.

Lornty Investment Company traces its roots to the O'Connell family's early real estate investments in Seattle. While the Lornty name dates back more than a century, the company that exists today bears little resemblance to the original business.

The original Lornty entity was established to own family real estate holdings, including hotel properties and later a small office building. By the late 1980s, however, the company had become inactive.

Rather than inherit an operating business, Roger O'Connell acquired the Lornty name from family members in 1990 and rebuilt the company as a private real estate lending and investment firm. Drawing on nearly two decades of commercial real estate finance experience, he recapitalized the business, raised approximately $50 million through private investment funds, and originated first-lien real estate loans throughout the Pacific Northwest. During the same period, Roger also assembled and managed a portfolio of more than 1,000 multifamily units in the Phoenix market.

In 2006, Shane O'Connell purchased Lornty from Roger and has continued to expand the business. Since then, the company has grown its private lending platform while building a diversified real estate portfolio across Washington, California, Arizona, and Idaho.
